Kelsey & John (and Alice) | Maternity – Oxford, Mississippi

December 9, 2013

Kelsey and John are one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of calling friends and we’re not only friends, we’re also neighbors! (We seriously hit the neighbor jackpot with these two!) Not long after becoming neighbors and friends this summer, I learned that the two of them were having a baby girl in December. They had already booked their newborn session with another lucky photographer before we met but lucky for me, they had not already booked a maternity session. So over the weekend, we braved the cold and captured some beautiful keepsakes of this very special occasion. Congratulations Kelsey and John! I can’t wait to meet Alice! πŸ™‚

Kelsey, you are seriously SO gorgeous!!!

I’ll keep the rest a surprise because they want to use some of the images for their Christmas card. But as you can see…Alice is destined to be gorgeous and loved!

Cheers! πŸ™‚

6 Years Together

November 11, 2013

Today is rather monumental. I say that because my husband and I are celebrating our six year wedding anniversary today. Not only that…but we’re also celebrating a decade of love.

You see, a decade ago, I met my husband for the very first time. I didn’t know it back then, but that summer night of 2003, on a cruise in the middle of the ocean…our love story began.Β Now here we are, ten years as best friends and celebrating six years as husband and wife. Each chapter has been filled with love, adventure, struggles and joy. Β Our story is continuously unfolding and I’m excited to see what God has in store for us in the days and years to come.

Thank you to all of our wonderful family and friends who have loved and supported us. We have been blessed to have you by our side throughout the years.

Keeping with the tradition of capturing our own anniversary photos every year, I wanted to share a few of this year’s photos with you today in a slideshow…

Cheers! πŸ™‚

Rachel & Frank | Ohio Wedding

October 22, 2013

Rachel and Frank had the most beautiful pumpkin-filled, October wedding. Β There were so many lovely details and the blue skies made for a picture perfect autumn day! Here is just a glimpse of the celebration…

These are probably my favourite shots from the day! Their happiness is contagious isn’t it?!

After the reveal, Rachel and Frank wanted to get some sentimental photos taken in front of the Ohio Stadium. Not only are they big Ohio State fans, but they actually met during their time in the Ohio State marching band. And this is also the exact spot where Frank proposed!

O-H – I-O!

Here is another very meaningful image. This is a shot of the bride and groom holding framed photos of their parents on THEIR wedding day. Β How awesome is that?!

Hey Ya’ll!

I wanted to give a little update and fill you in on what’s new here at Behind A Lens.

For those who may not know, my husband recently accepted a professor position at Ole Miss in Oxford, MS. We have spent the last few months relocating, buying our first home and settling in here in our new town (which is why my posts have been a little sparse lately). Moving is no easy task Β – and we’ve moved A LOT over the past few years – but I’m happy with where we’ve landed. πŸ™‚ Oxford is a charming little town and everyone we’ve met so far has been very welcoming and kind.

I’ve been working hard at getting my new studio set up and re-launching my photography business.Β I’m excited about what the future holds for not only us as a family, but for the direction of my photography.Β Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive during this journey.Β Expect more blog posts soon! πŸ™‚

And because blogs are always better with pictures, here is a look at my new business cards!

Cheers to new adventures!

SAMUEL | Patriotic Preemie

March 12, 2013

Samuel made an early appearance into the world recently…he was born a couple weeks before his due date. I guess he just couldn’t wait to meet his family…and after meeting them myself, I can see why he was so anxious to greet them in person! πŸ™‚ He has been blessed into such a sweet family! And Samuel is quite the little blessing himself. Both he and his big brother, Carson did awesome during the shoot!

Here are just a few images of Samuel and his brother from our session over the weekend. Enjoy! πŸ™‚

Kate Nykiel and Jonah Simons weddingCarson is SUCH a good (and proud) big brother! It was sweet to see these two together!

SAMUEL2_websizedSamuel’s Daddy is an active Marine so I wanted to personalize a couple images to honor him. This one with his Daddy’s uniform was my favourite! The vintage trunk was my grandfather’s…he was also in the military. I love that there is so much significance wrapped up in this one photo. Doesn’t it make you feel patriotic? πŸ™‚

SAMUEL4_websizedThis image of Samuel in his Daddy’s hand is another favourite of mine. So tiny and perfect.

Thank you again to this beautiful family for welcoming me into your lives and sharing these precious moments with me. I enjoyed every second of it! πŸ™‚

Smooch-Filled Mommy & Son Mini Session! :)

February 14, 2013

Happy Valentine’s Day!

In honor of this love-filled holiday, I wanted to share one of my favourite images from a recent mommy and son mini session. πŸ™‚ Aren’t these two just the sweetest?!

Lindsey & Michael | Ohio Art Deco Wedding

November 20, 2012

I photographed my last wedding of the year on Saturday and it was a beautiful note to end on! Lindsey and Michael had a gorgeous Art Deco inspired wedding in downtown Columbus, Ohio. There were lots of charming details but my favourite part was the love between these two.

Lindsey…you could NOT be more beautiful!!!

I absolutely LOVED her bouquet.

How perfect is her clutch?

The bride and groom chose not to see each other before the ceremony but we did do a reveal with Dad. And it was super sweet! πŸ™‚

The handsome (and extremely happy) groom. πŸ™‚

Loved their suits! The mother-of-the bride actually made the bow ties for the guys!

Speaking of handmade…the Mother-of-the-Groom made this knitted wrap for the bride. And she looks absolutely STUNNING doesn’t she?!

The bride with her beautiful ladies! I kind of want one of those dresses in my own closet!!

After the ceremony Lindsey and Michael walked across the street to the place where they first met to take a few photos and have a celebratory drink. πŸ™‚

At the reception we snuck off again to get some intimate shots around the beautiful Columbus Athenaeum building.

The happy couple then danced the night away under the twinkling lights.

There were so many beautiful moments throughout the day and I wish I could share them all with you however, I have to keep some back for the bride and groom. But I will leave you with one last image of these two that was taken shortly after they were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. It’s quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! I LOVE the joy on their faces! πŸ™‚

Congrats Lindsey and Michael! Enjoy your honeymoon cruise and a lifetime of love together!
