Travel With Me Series | Day 10

April 11, 2012

I’ll be wrapping up this travel series today with our final destination to Amalfi, Italy. We took a private boat excursion along the Amalfi coast and were able to visit Sorrento, Amalfi, Naples and Pompeii. It was the most beautiful scenic boat ride. Highly recommend it.

Pompeii is pretty much an all day event, especially if you have a tour guide like we did but I definitely recommend having a guide because they are able to share much of the historic details that otherwise you probably wouldn’t benefit from if you were to tour the ruins on your own. It’s amazing to think that a once lively and vibrant city was completely covered by lava after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. What’s more incredible is that the volcano is still active. Yea…kind of scary.

Naples is where pizza first originated so we enjoyed a slice (or two) while we were there. We also enjoyed a brief afternoon in Amalfi to take in the views, walk along the shore hand-in-hand and soak up the sun. Though our time there was brief, it was beautiful and it had a very laid back, colorful charm about it. I loved the stacked buildings all along the hillside.

I hope you all have enjoyed traveling with me during this series and that this awakened the explorer inside of you. If you missed any of the previous adventures you can check them out HERE.Β
