Travel With Me Series | Day 5

April 5, 2012

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by going on a Mediterranean cruise. We actually met on a cruise almost 10 years ago and since our anniversary this year was on 11/11/11, I wanted to do something special to commemorate the date. So we traveled back to where we first met…in the middle of the ocean…on a cruise ship. 🙂

Our 12-day cruise went to several beautiful ports but by far the most beautiful was the stop in Santorini, Greece. It felt as though we were walking through a dream. The white-washed buildings, the endless blue doors and domes, cobblestone streets, breathtaking views…it was so quaint and enchanting. The small town of Oia was our favourite. We rented a scooter and drove along the coast. We looked alot like Lloyd and Harry from Dumb and Dumber with our helmets on and rusty scooter, but we had SO much fun! It was really the best way to travel there. Not only was it super cheap, but we were free in the open air and it allowed us to make frequent stops on the side of the road for taking pictures!

I had the most memorable lunch of my life in Oia. I ordered an authentic Greek salad which was out of this world accompanied with an out of this world view. This was the view from where we had lunch that day. Just to the right (which you can’t see in this photo) was the ocean. This is my happy place. 🙂
