I’m still pinching myself (a Swiss update)

October 6, 2010

My husband and I have been living here in Switzerland for exactly one week now. It’s been quite the adventure so far and we are learning so much about the culture and way of life in this beautiful country. We briefly visited Switzerland once before back in January (you can view photos from that trip HERE) but visiting here and living here are two different things. When you simply visit a place in the world for vacation or holiday you have a very short time to take it in…but when you live there…when you are submerged in its culture then you really get to experience more of what it has to offer. You can take in a larger view than you would if you were just passing through.

We have been busy getting settled in. There is a lot to do when you are moving overseas. You’re basically starting over. You have to apply for visas, work permits, residency cards, set up banking, transportation, housing and get acquainted with your new environment. Neither of us speak French so that has been a challenge…but it’s been fun learning.

One thing I can say for sure about Switzerland is that it owns unsurpassed beauty! We are nestled among the vineyards in the region of Lutry and the views are simply breathtaking. It’s a photographer’s dream…and I’m still pinching myself!

To be continued….
